Hanko Week about to start

The main Summer event of the Finnish bridge scene, the traditional Hanko Bridge Week, begins on Friday July 23rd. Lots of players will once again be gathered in the Southernmost part of Finland in order to enjoy the sun, relaxed atmosphere and some pleasant bridge.

Tournament menu is comprehensive, starting with the Warp Up event on the first Friday, continuing with the two-day Hanko CUP pairs competition and extending to the Finnish Cup Finals and some Veteran and B series Finnish Championship competitions. Not to forget are the relaxed Good Morning Hanko competitions held most mornings at hostel Maret. Most of the other competitions are held at the Voimakasiini restaurant at the harbour.


The bridge week is also a place for education and sharing information. A rare occasion in the Finnish bridge scene will be held on Tuesday when Matti Niemi, in collaboration with the Bridge League of Finland, presents a brand new Finnish bridge book Bridgeä 2000-luvulla (Bridge in the 21st Century). The book signed by the author can be purchased at Hanko at a special a rate. You can also support bridge by buying some bar-coded playing cards made for the Bridge League of Finland.
